ANGELA FRAGKOU_CURRICULUM VITAE
Short Bio:
Angela Fragkou is a Greek new media artist, researcher and bioscientist with a background in organic chemistry and visual arts. Her practice moves between art and science, combining biosciences, digital technologies, ecological materiality and experimental processes to investigate materiality, perception and the relations between humans, living systems and their environments. Her work draws on scientific methodologies, real data and invented parameters, transforming scientific processes into artistic systems, images and immersive experiences. Recent research explores structural colour, bio-derived materials, bacterial colonies, light, time, observation and new materialities. Her work has been presented at the International Forum on Artistic Research at the University of Galway, the Athens Digital Arts Festival, ARTENS Festival, Performing Space Symposium, Onassis Stegi Foundation, Athens School of Fine Arts and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and through international interdisciplinary research programmes and publications, includes Nida Art Colony at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Arteles Creative Center in Finland, and the Erasmus+ programme at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart. She is currently developing artistic research around ecological materiality, living systems and observer-dependent phenomena.
